2011 Festival News and Notes-#1: Main Stage

I am once again putting together some news and notes about the Thespian Festival. The 2011 Festival is scheduled in Lincoln Nebraska for June 20-25.

Early Show
The Fantasticks by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones. Kennedy High School (Iowa) will present the show.

Main Stage attractions include:
The Drowsy Chaperone by by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, to be staged as a joint school production of Floyds Knobs High School and New Albany High School (Indiana).

Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire, to be presented by Dubuque Senior High School (Iowa).


Good Boys and True, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, will be presented by Harry S. Truman High School (Pennsylvania).

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin and additional material by Jay Reiss. Hebron High School (Texas) will stage the show.

Jekyll and Hyde based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, original stage conception by Steve Cuden and Frank Wildhorn. The music is by Wildhorn and the lyrics and book are by Leslie Bricusse. The All-State Missouri Cast and Crew will present the show.

Avenue Q, School Edition, conceived by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, who wrote the music and lyrics. The book was written by Jeff Whitty. Bradford High School (Wisconsin) will stage the show.


Starmites by Barry Keating and Stuart Ross. The show will be presented by Claremont High School (California).
